Cheap black tapes with paper labels that I used to record random stuff with. Found one (this was years ago) with the intro sequence to Action Force (G.I. Joe to Yanks) I’d recorded for the following reasons: I was seven. Can’t forget “Cool FM”, my one-kid radio station. It only had one show and consisted of me waffling in between songs I’d recorded off the radio (without explicit oral consent). It had a jingle and everything. The jingle being me singing “Cool FM” to no particular tune.
Kids these days, eh? With their YouTubes and their SoundClouds and their rap music. They don’t know what they’re missing. It’s strange how it’s harder now to record yourself than it was then. No worrying about formats, files, just pop a tape in your deck, press play and record at the same time and bam, you’re making magic.
